Overview

This page explains how you can request the deletion of your KeedPay account and the data associated with it. KeedPay is provided by Keed Ghana Limited, a licensed Payment Service Provider regulated by the Bank of Ghana. We respect your right to have your account deleted and will process your request in accordance with applicable Ghanaian laws.

How to Request Account Deletion

To request deletion of your KeedPay account, please send an email to our privacy team:

In your email, please include:

  • Subject line: "Account Deletion Request"
  • Your registered phone number
  • Your full name as registered on the account
  • Reason for deletion (optional)

Before submitting your request, please ensure you have withdrawn any remaining balance from your KeedPay account to your mobile money wallet.

What Happens After You Submit Your Request

Once we receive your deletion request:

  1. Verification: We will verify your identity to ensure the request is legitimate and protect your account from unauthorized deletion.
  2. Review: We will check for any pending transactions or outstanding balances.
  3. Processing: Your request will be processed within 30 days of successful verification.
  4. Confirmation: You will receive an email confirmation once your account has been deleted.

Data That Will Be Deleted

When your account is deleted, the following data will be permanently removed from our active systems:

  • Your account profile and preferences
  • App settings and configurations
  • Device information and usage data
  • Marketing preferences and communication history
  • Any other personal data not required to be retained by law

Data We Must Retain

As a regulated financial service provider, Keed Ghana Limited is legally required to retain certain records even after account deletion. This is mandated by:

  • The Payment Systems and Services Act, 2019
  • The Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2020
  • Bank of Ghana regulations
  • The Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843)

The following data must be retained for a minimum of 5 years after account closure:

  • KYC/Identity Records: Your identity verification documents and details (e.g., Ghana Card information) as required for anti-money laundering compliance.
  • Transaction History: Records of all financial transactions including disbursements received, payments made, top-ups, and withdrawals.
  • Compliance Records: Any records necessary for regulatory audits, investigations, or legal proceedings.

This retained data will be securely stored, isolated from active use, and only accessed when required for regulatory or legal purposes. After the mandatory retention period expires, this data will also be permanently deleted.

Important Notes

  • Account deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed.
  • You will lose access to any remaining balance if not withdrawn before deletion.
  • If you have pending transactions, deletion may be delayed until they are completed.
  • You may create a new account in the future, but your previous transaction history will not be restored.
